Unchanging God, unfailing love,
Our thoughts can only rise so far.
They cannot reach, our language fails
To touch the truth of all You are.
Forever right, forever pure;
Each promise stands forever sure.
O All-in-all, untouched by time,
You are reality sublime.

Creation sings Your power and love
While history adds its long refrain,
But in our tiny here and now
The only truth we know is pain.
When doubts arise, and worry calls,
When suffering comes, and darkness falls,
When all our world seems O so wrong,
Our only song is, “Lord, how long?”

In Jesus Christ the time is now.
We touch Your timeless truth and grace,
For You Yourself take flesh and blood
And love divine a smiling face.
In this, our here and now, we see
How fruitful suffering love can be,
For all of heaven has begun
In Christ Your risen, reigning Son.
