We have sinned, O holy God!
O what bitter fruit is growing!
We have wronged Your tender love.
Almighty God, forgive!

Mired in stubborn unbelief,
Quick to grumble, slow to trust You,
See us, helpless slaves to sin,
To self and fear and pride.

O God, forever faithful,
How quickly we forget
Your power and patient goodness,
Our everlasting debt!

We have given worthless gods
All the love and trust we owe You.
Calm our noisy hearts to hear
Your gentle call to peace.

We have sinned, O holy God!
We are wrong, our King, our Father!
Here we bow, repent, and trust,
And cling to You alone.
