In darkness see the Star arise.
Its glimmer lifts our weary eyes.
Its promise shines in deepest night:
The dawn is coming – Christ the Light!

Our God is Light, a living flame,
At night or dawn, always the same.
O what a truth awaits our sight!
What joy, what beauty: Christ the Light!

No death or darkness, grief or fear
Endures when God Himself is here.
Then love is full, and life is right,
And all is bathed in Christ the Light!
