Lyrics

Before the starry universe
There reigned the great I Am.
This being wise and wonderful
In love conceived a man.
He formed him in His likeness -
So the mystery began.

Refrain:
Praise God for the wonder of His love,
Infinite love!
Praise God for the wonder of His love!

The creature knew his Maker, but
In pride he turned away.
He traded all his riches for
A debt he could not pay.
He clothed himself in suffering and
In deep and fearful shame.

But God refused to turn away,
So driven by His love.
He laid aside His splendor just
To draw us all above.
Our Lord is now Immanuel,
A child of flesh and blood.
